The Pozers

The Pozers are one of the hottest groups to come out on the Dallas scene. Their music has been described as "Alternaglamgrungepunkthrashcountry" with melodic speed metal overtones; however, they choose to ignore such labels. Their live performance is an explosive, high energy show, that captivates audiences who have grown accustom to the low-level, hum-drum stage presence that has become a symbol of the 90's bands. The Pozers are: Jim Richey (drums, vocals), Kenny Swann (lead guitar, vocals), Jeff Hamm (vocals, guitar, keyboard) Daniel Williams (bass, vocals). The band, concept, & sound of The Pozers was born January 1994 out of the satirical imaginations of songwriters Richey and Swann. They began playing the club circuit throughout the southeast. Their "big break" came when T.N.A. Records (Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas) A&R manager, Mark Lee, caught the bands show at Dallas City Limits and the next week signed The Pozers to a four album record deal. Shortly after, The Pozers signed a publishing deal with ASCAP publishers, Mirror Town Music. In May they released a seven song EP for T.N.A. Records simply entitled "The Pozers" which went on to sell over one-thousand copies in three months and is still in production. This prompted the label to finance a full length (12 song) CD and promotional campaign for The Pozers. After seven grueling months of studio work the CD "We're the Pozers and so are You" was released November 1, 1995. Sells of the CD began to sky rocket throughout the south-central United States followed by Radio interviews and a substantial amount of airplay. Only four short months after the CD's release, it was picked up by world wide distributor Perris Records. The bands success in the European and Canadian market exceeded any and all expectations of Perris & T.N.A. records. This lead to an article in "Metal Edge" magazine (followed by several articles in every major rock magazine in America and abroad) and a United States tour. The Pozers toured most of 1995, 96 and 97 promoting "We're the Pozers and so are you." The "Where's my bitches" tour (as it was christened) ended in Longview, Texas in April, 1997. In May, The Pozers signed another distribution deal with Delinquent Records for world wide distribution of their music. The Pozers took some time off before starting their next project which was a long form music video/movie. The Pozers started writing and filming in September and finished in January 1998. This 120 minute video entitled "The Pozers - In search of Kenny Swann," was a humorous look at the various rumors surrounding the band and more specifically, Kenny Swann. The video is more of a satirical movie (similar to Spinal Tap) than a typical music video. It was released on March 13, 1998 and was widely received by the fans and critics. By the time "The Pozers-In search of Kenny Swann" was released, The Pozers were already back in the studio working on their next album, "Cover This." The album was released in May, 1998 and is a collection of 17 songs written by other artists and recorded by The Pozers. Seven of the 17 songs were live tracks, which were recorded on the infamous "Where's my bitches tour." The success of the group can easily be measured in CD sales and sold out shows; The Pozers - a look, style, & sound for the new millennium - a group you will not want to miss!!!
